The GENESIX VideoServer offers a watch folder that automatically imports the clips that are copied to it. This watch folder can be reached via a network path in the network.

The server has two power supplies. If one fails, the other power supply takes over the power supply. The defective part can be replaced during operation. It is also possible to operate the power supply with a separate UPS system. The server posseses several internal fans. A malfunction of one fan doesn't lead to temperature issues, which can be changed to runtime. For the network, four RJ45 Ethernet connections are provided in the default configuration. With the help of the teaming function, two network switches can be fed in order to have redundancy in the network traffic. Of course, this teaming function can also be used for higher data transmission. The operating system is installed on two hard disks with RAID1. The clips are on the video storage, which is also secured with several hard drives in RAID5 or RAID6. A hard disk can easily fail but can be exchanged during operation.

If trouble occurs regarding the connection there are various reasons for the cause. First of all, you should check if all necessary GENESIX services (Windows Service) have been started. If you want for example to connect the GENESIX Studio Playout client to the server, the GENESIX Studio Playout service must be running on the server. If the required services are already running on the server, please check the firewall settings on the server. The Windows Firewall regulates which PC is allowed to connect to which service. Please also check on the GENESIX client, in order to configure it correctly. The correct host name of the GENESIX server must be entered in the settings.
The clips are stored locally on the server and can be managed with GENESIX Asset Management. With the GENESIX Transfer Manager clips can also be transferred to other NAS drives. This is possible even during a recording.
